Went to the garage with HW to take a look at my goopy mess and we both decided it was absolutely awful and I need to sand the varnish off and try again. UGH.
Of course, HW said "sand it just enough to take the varnish off, but not the stain". HA. With a random orbit sander, I don't think I have that much control. We'll see.
I looked up oil-based stain and all forums say no to tung-oil on oil-based stain. Booooooo.
Worst case scenario, I paint it.
