Well, Saturday was a day like no other, well, except maybe for Sunday. We worked like dogs, starting around 10 am and not finishing until close to 9 pm, with very little break. HW spent most of the day in the sun, cutting and routing the MDF and drawer bank top and getting everything assembled so we could hang the system on the wall. We even got everything hung, screwed in, and stable.
On Sunday, we took a longer break, eating lunch and watching The Bourne Identity (and taking a 15 minute impromptu nap) before tackling more closet. We're both very tired. Just because our bodies think we're over 40 doesn't mean our minds accept this fact. And forgetting to do anything about dinner until 8 pm is starting to wear on us and my esophageal tract.
The result of the Work-Like-A-Dog 4-Day-4th-of-July Work Bender:
All closet shelving cut, routed and installed.
All closet rods cut and mounted.
Everything (walls, trim) completely primed and caulked.
Ceiling is painted.
First coat of wall paint.
First coat of trim paint.
Pocket door installed and adjusted.
Now we're down to touch-up paint where needed, sanding the rods and staining them, sanding the top and front of drawers and staining them, and rolling and sanding all the MDF, then cleaning the floor really well and caulking any remaining seams. Oh, and uh, finally getting the electricity hooked up so we have lights.
After some renewed energy and a refreshing dip in the pool across the street today (and maybe, guiltily, a nap?), I hope I can have the closet ready for clothes hanging and storing by the end of the week!!
