After watching all sorts of things flying through the air, picking up random pieces of insulation out of our yard from someone else's house from who knows where, trying to help a neighbor with a flooded yard, and checking on all friends and loved ones and being relieved to report, although some were VERY close to the tornados, all were spared, we decided to work on the house and take advantage of beautiful, after-tornado-scrubbed-air, weather.
Got the kitchen floor sanded and poly-ed tonight!! It looks gorgeous! Had some rough starts with various belt sanders who kept wanting to insert divets where we wanted smoothets, but finally worked those out with the trusty sanders we already had. Applied poly and yes, bubbles are in the surface, but we can't figure out how to avoid them unless we just pour buckets and buckets of poly on the floor, hope it pools perfectly, and check on it in a couple of days. If you want it spread out evenly on the floor, you have to use something to spread it, which invariably leaves bubbles. Will have to wait overnight to sand and apply second coat and see if we have smooth floors or sandpapery ones. Gonna get a shower and then eat.
love to all!
