Our Master Bedroom, complete with window treatments that my lovely and talented MIL sewed for us, with fabric I had pieced together through the years until I had something that worked. Wall color is Beach Glass. Ceiling fan is ginormous.
The main bath (until Rich and I get around to working on our own bathroom). Notice that as you opened the bathroom door, you had to squirm around the sink and stand at the toilet or the tub to close the door. The new toilet and wall trim are in the exact same location as before. Notice the space difference?
The tiny dots on the shower tile in the pic on the right were seafaring birds. We believe this was renovated sometime in the late 80s. I apologize for not color-correcting all of this. I'm in the third hour of getting this up here. Just be happy I finally got pics for ya. ;o)
The new (old) vanity. We bumped the wall back about 3.5 feet. In the floor pic you'll see where the vent is. We kept that in the exact same place. In the before picture, it's the black thing on the floor to the left of the wall sink. We picked up the chest of drawers with wooden handles from an Ebay seller. We retrofitted the drawers to work around the plumbing and the sink (they ALL work!), replaced the pulls with crystal knobs, took off the top and enlarged it, tiled it, placed sink and faucet there, added lighting and trim. I still have to do matching stain for the front cap of the countertop, and we still have to repaint the ceiling and walls, this time with mildew-resistant paint, since the fan is the only air circulation. We replaced that with something much more powerful as well, so we don't keep getting drippy walls.
Each and every dark tile you see on the floor was placed and spaced out by hand. All glass tile. And notice the niche next to the toilet. Still needs a couple things like a drawer and a beer tap, but otherwise, it's good to go!
This is a glass detail up-close view. If we ever get a SunTunnel or skylight in there, it'll be amazing looking! As it stands now, it's really pretty :o) Purply blue, with swirls of other colors, and kind of metallic. Light behind it, if we had some, makes it translucent.
The Laundry Room, formerly known as the space that was supposed to be our coat closet and extra storage. The door is salvaged from the double-door that went into the dance hall. The room is L-shaped, with the washing machine where the old shower in the master bath was. The dryer is where my coat closet was supposed to be. Above the dryer are two shelves for drying, and above that, a rod for hanging to dry. Finally, a laundry room that's completely functional for me!!
And finally, the KITCHEN!
First, the 1980s disaster, complete with pink and blue flowered wallpaper, refaced cabinets, and country-cute everywhere! Very little space to work. It was MUCH like the old kitchen we had at Ashebrook before we renovated, without the charm.
Standing in the dining room, looking back into the kitchen and what used to be the den behind it, is what we call "The Money Shot", incomplete with lack of floors, edge banding cabinet trim, counter to the right of the stove, etc. But it still looks good, don't it? To the right of the stove wall is an opening to the hallway behind. Directly off that new hall is the laundry, so if you could look through the wall like Superman, you'd see the laundry room.
After that, standing in the corner of that shot, looking back where the fridge and stove used to be, is what we call the Island, even though it's not one. Lots of really good room for cookies, baking, cooking, a landing spot from the fridge, etc. We still want to open up that doorway to the dining room, but just don't have funds or time right now. We had to take the trim off to get the fridge into the kitchen. The edge of the pantry was the edge of the wall of the original kitchen. I'm standing about 3 feet back from that, with 2 feet of counter and cabinets behind me. It was a 9 x 10 kitchen. Now it's 9 x 15.
Then, standing in that doorway next to the stove, looking back at the wall with fridge, sink, dishwasher, and great undercabinet lighting! Also, a closer view of the working corner. The hardest working corner in this house. Notice to the right of the stove is the remaining countertop that needs to be placed. It still has the plywood with plastic tablecloth stapled to it.
I think that's it for now. We have more we're doing, but nothing complete enough to show you. Phew! Looking at the kitchen makes me hungry! Now I gotta go eat.
