Our crack meteorologists predicted a light flurry of snow on Saturday. So we set about working on stuff around the house, and me showing houses, without a care in the world, never suspecting a thing (yeah, right). I'm writing this after spending last evening enjoying the inch of snow that was still on the grass when we went to bed.
Rich found a family of squirrels trying to lay claim to his workshed. Open the door, and voila! scurrying sounds and dry leaves everywhere. So while I showed houses, he went Tim Allen and repaired the roof of the shed so no more critters could make a home there.
Then we both set about installing the new circulation fan in the bathroom. The old one sounded slightly quieter than 1000 kids screaming at a rock concert, and the new one sounds more like mild "golf-clapping" at a Yanni concert. MUCH better.
Then we went and got a Christmas tree IN THE SNOW!!! I've never done that. Had a BLAST . . . found the perfect tree, assembled it in the garage to dry off from all the SNOW on it. Wow. Then I clamped on my snow boots and we traipsed (well, maybe not traipsed, at least not Rich--he doesn't traipse, he saunters or strolls, or casually makes his way anywhere) up on foot to Dunkin' Donuts for some Munchkins, coffee and cocoa. Then we headed back and got sprayed from a passing car. My trusty waterproof coat and snow boots kept me mostly dry. Just jeans needed to be changed when we got home. Probably the only time in my life I didn't care that a car sprayed me with road rain. It was SNOWING. Who cares about road rain???
Got home and vegged for a while, and took pictures of the snow, and played Angry Birds--a highly addictive game of animated birds attacking green pigs by placing themselves in a slingshot and being hurled through objects to kill the pigs. Sounds silly, but we both have had neck cramps and back pain by sitting in one position too long, not moving a muscle but our fingers for hours on end. Crazy.
Today it was too cold to work on the countertops (and too pretty with the snow on the ground, still). So we patched more walls, sanded more walls, and painted more walls. Slowly but surely, we're accomplishing Operation Annihilate Yellow. All the walls in the house that didn't have wallpaper or fake paneling have yellow paint on them. I. hate. yellow. walls. Therefore OAY has been a primary objective for a while now. Soldiering on!
